Clayton E. Clark, 93, died at 1:57 a.m. May 17, 2013, at St. Ritas Medical Center, following a short illness.

He was born April 10, 1920, in York Township, Van Wert County, to Vernon G. and Mary E. Rempfer Clark, who preceded him in death. On March 22, 1944, he married Ruby M. Wilkins, who died Feb. 4, 2009.

Mr. Clark was a 1939 graduate of Spencerville High School. He retired in 2000 as a lifelong farmer. He had been a member of Spencerville Church of the Nazarene and attended Trinity Friends Church, Van Wert. In addition to farming, he enjoyed reading, gardening and birdwatching.

Survivors include two sons, David L. (Tanya) Clark, of Lima, and Paul D. (Linda) Clark, of Antwerp; five grandchildren, Scott Clark, of Columbus, Cristal (Jamie) Moore, of Grover Hill, Shelly Clark, of Spencerville, Sam Elliot, of Haviland, and Matt (Tera) Elliott, of Garrett, Ind.; five great-grandchildren, Andrew and Megan Moore and Alisa, Mason and Ridley Elliott; and two sisters, Martha J. Clark, of Venedocia, and Mary J. Price, of Van Wert.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Clara May Kuhn.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville. Pastor Steve Savage will officiate. Burial will be in Wright Cemetery, Converse.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Friends Church.
