FORT JENNINGS — Clyde “Jay” McKanna, Jr., 91, passed away Nov. 12, 2012, at 4 p.m. at his home near Fort Jennings.
He was born March 23, 1921, in Fort Jennings to Clyde and Phoebe Jane “Jennie” Edwards McKanna, who preceded him in death. He married Ruby Bridenbaugh on June 6, 1948, who survives.
He was a lifetime farmer specializing in pork production. He enjoyed singing and was a member of the Lima Beane Chorus for over 30 years. He was a member of the Farmer Bureau. He also had served on the board of directors for Gomer Equity. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Elida.
He is also survived by five sons, Max (Kathy), of Fairlawn, Jon(Linda), of Dublin, Ohio, Don (Audrey), of Springfield, Scott (Pam), of Vaughnsville, and Joe (Jayne), of Bowling Green; and two daughters, Jennie (Gary) Good, of Elida, and Jule E. McKanna, of Fort Jennings. He is survived by 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe, Clare, Robert, Don and Max McKanna; a sister, Margaret Collar; a grandson, Joel Preston McKanna; and a great-grandson, Ian Stewart McKanna.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Pastor Max McKanna will officiate. Burial will be in Osburn Cemetery, Columbus Grove.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home .
