Eddie Allen Sr., 90, died at 7:38 a.m. April 19, 2013, at Lima Memorial Health System.



He was born Feb. 7, 1923, in Russell County, Ala., to Robert and Ella Reynolds Allen Sr., who preceded him in death. On March 27, 1943, he married Ida M. Caulton, who died April 28, 1979.



Mr. Allen retired in 1980 from General Motors Corp. He was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where he had been a member of the usher board. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 211. He was an Army veteran of World War II.



Survivors include three daughters, Barbara J. (Jimmy) Russell, of Lima, Vida M. Powell, of Columbus, and Diane M. (Freddie) Key-Snipes, of Covington, Ga.; 25 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and his special friend, Hanna Battle, of Lima.



He was preceded in death by two daughters, Janice S. Allen and Margaret Taylor; two sons, Eddie Jr. and Robert W. Allen; two grandchildren, Rodney Allen and Jerard Key; five brothers, Lynn, Robert, James L., Otis and Samuel D. Sr. Allen; and four sisters, Lula M. Butler, Bertha Appling, Louisiana White and Eva M. Allen.



Services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Cleven Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275.



Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Jones-Clark Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
