Martha Alice Brock, 83, passed away March 11, 2013, at the Lima Convalescent Home.
She as born June 17, 1929, in Lima.
She was employed at the Lima Public Library from 1954 to 1995. She became head of extension in July 1980, and was later promoted to head of children’s in April 1988, retiring in 1995. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Children’s Evangelism Fellowship. She had a lovely singing voice. Her hobbies included reading and crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed the companionship and comfort of her cats.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Sarah Shaffer Brock; her brother, Richard Brock; her niece, Kate Godfrey Robinson; and her beloved cat, Andy.
Survivors include her sister, Helen Brock Godfrey, of Annapolis, Md.; her niece, Debby Godfrey Brown and her husband Steve, of Foster, R.I.; her great-niece, Chani Adams and her family, of Indian Head, Md.; her great-nephew, Shaffer Robinson, of South Riding, Va.; and her special angels, Tim and Eva Mosher, of Lima.
A service will be held in four to six weeks. Another notice will be posted in the paper with the details.
Donations in her name can be made to the Lima Public Library.
