DANIEL JENNINGS JR., 85, died at 2:50 p.m. June 16, 2006, at Richland Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Aug. 25, 1920, in Camp Hill, Ala., to Daniel and Ada Burton Jennings Sr., who preceded him in death. On April 12, 1944, he married Louise Allen Jennings, who died Jan. 8, 1985.
Mr. Jennings retired from Teledyne Ohio Steel foundry after 36 years of dedicated service. He was also a carpenter and brick layer, where he labored many hours for people in the community and nonprofit organizations many times just to be of help to someone. He was a member of Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church, where he served in the male chorus, and was a former church greeter and past member of the usher board.
Survivors include a son, Richard Jennings of Lima; seven daughters, Shirley Jennings of Las Vegas, Pamela (Phillip) Paris of Anderson, Ind., Carolyn (Calvin) Mann and Bonita Coleman, both of Hilliard, Brenda (Tony) Wilkerson and Melinda Williams, both of Lima, and Melissa (Todd) Gruden of Euclid; 27 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; a brother, Alfred Jennings of Lanett, Ala.; and four sisters, Beatrice Foster of Huntsville, Ala., Catherine Doss and Velma Walker, both of Lafayette, Ala., and Willean Jefferson of Juliette, Ga.
He was preceded in death by a son, Howard N. Jennings; a brother, Lumas Ware; and three sisters, Eddie D. Holloway, Haddie B. Ware and Mary Brown.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Earnest Stephens Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Jones-Clark Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
