LIMA



David L. Meyer, 63, of Albuquerque, N.M., formerly of Lima, died March 26, 2013, at Veterans Hospital, Albuquerque.



He was born Feb. 12, 1950, in Lima, the son of the late Gerald “Gerry” Meyer and the late Mildred “Midge” Strauer Meyer.



David was a graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his service he worked for Poley’s Big & Tall. Then he moved to Albuquerque, N.M., and worked for the University of New Mexico, where he recently retired after 23 years of service. Dave truly loved life and lived every day to the fullest. He was an avid reader and enjoyed hiking, biking, skiing and camping in the mountains of New Mexico. Dave was a fan of The Ohio State University, of course, the University of New Mexico Lobos and the Detroit Tigers. He also enjoyed music, great food, friends and family, and his dog, Tigger, who was by his side to the end, along with his friends Mike, Rob and Jessica.



He is survived by a niece, Amy (Eric Briggs) Meyer; a nephew, Greg Larotonda; a brother, Ronald (Marilyn) Meyer; a nephew, Ron (Jessica) Meyer; and numerous aunts and uncles.



He will be greatly missed by both family and friends.



He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary P. Meyer.



A memorial service will be held at a later date for the family.



Memorial contributions may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, St. Rose Catholic Church or a charity of donor’s choice.
