Harry O. Butterfield Jr., 88, died at 3:54 a.m. June 20, 2013, at Willow Ridge Nursing Home, Bluffton.

Harry was born April 1, 1925, in Oxford, to the late Harry O. Butterfield Sr. and Etha Holmes Butterfield. On Dec. 16, 1947, he married Peggy Ann Trempert Butterfield, and she preceded him in death.

Mr. Butterfield was a self employed and owner of Harry Butterfield Builders. He was member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 and was a member of Perry School Board for eight years. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II.

He is survived by two sons, Bert (Rosie) Butterfield, of Harrod, and Brad (Denise) Butterfield, of Cridersville; a daughter, Belinda (Bill) Gardner, of Canal Winchester; six grandchildren, Rick, Jamie, Randy, Joshua, Alethea and Ryan; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Kelly, of Allentown, Pa.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Mel, Calvin “Cal” and Eugene Butterfield; three sisters, Audre Sheard, Imogene Becker and Thelma Brown.

Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, with military rites by VFW Post 1275. Bill Gardner will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery .

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until time of services Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
