LIMA — Howard Emory Fields, 83, went to be with the Lord at 6:46 p.m. July 11, 2013, at his residence.
He was born July 26, 1929, in Lima to Eldridge Scott and Fannie Mae Ward Fields, who preceded him in death. In 1955, he married Pauline Barbara Wilson Jones Fields, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Fields retired from Ford Motor Company. He was a member of Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church. He was a Korean War veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed traveling, camping and spending time with grandchildren. He was an astute entrepreneur, landlord and willing giver in support of countless causes and the needs of others.
Survivors include two brothers, Joseph (Dorothy) Fields, of Lima, and Floyd E. Fields, of Ada; six sisters, Alice Gatewood, of Lima, Betty Smith, of Kansas City, Mo., Barbara Bennett, of Toledo, Loretta Mobley, of Detroit, and Patricia Musgrove and Donna Fields, of Lima; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and well-wishers; six sons, Robert L. (Hattie) Jones, of Mesa, Ariz., Leonard Jones, of Lima, Gerald E. (Cheryl) Fields, on Jonesboro, Ga., Robert (Catherine) Williams, of Pensacola, Guy (Liz) Martin, of Columbus, and Richard Spriggs, of Dallas; two daughters, Tonia Turner, of Tampa, Fla., and Nicole Angelique Fields, of Lima; a stepson, Clarence (Paula) Hines, of Ottawa; and a stepdaughter, Tywona (Marcus) Burdette, of Lima.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Fields and Albert Fields; a sister, Ruth Penager; a daughter, Patricia Ann Jones Jackson; and a son, Thomas Anthony Jones.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Earnest Stephens Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Jones-Clark Funeral Home’s chapel, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
