LIMA — Susie Johnson, 96, died at 5:09 p.m. Sept. 15, 2012, at Baton Rouge Care Center.
She was born Sept. 12, 1916, in Hapeville, Ga., to Claude L. and Mattie E. Woodley Barkley, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Johnson worked in housekeeping at the Michigan Board of Education and then at the Argonne Hotel. She was a member of Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member of the McGee-Johnson Missionary Society. She also worked with the Kitchen Committee. She loved the Lord and was dedicated to her church and family.
Survivors include a niece, Brenda (Edward) Kimbrough, of Lima; and a host of great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Gertrude Thomas and Louvenia Griffin; three nieces, Mattie Lou Webb, Rosemary Webb and Janice Williams; two nephews, Leroy Griffin and Bennie R. Thomas; and two great-nephews, Steven Kimbrough and Rickmond Griffith.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Ernest Stephens Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery,
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Family will be present at noon.
