Phyllis M. Markley



Phyllis M. Markley, 80, died at 11:34 p.m. June 12, 2013, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.



She was born Oct. 1, 1932, in Darke County to Russell and Grace Hollinger Pease, who preceded her in death. On April 5, 1953, she married Bill G. Markley, who survives in Lima.



Mrs. Markley retired as a cafeteria supervisor from Bath school system after 25 years. She had been a member of First United Methodist Church. When she was younger, she loved square dancing with her husband. While raising her family, she enjoyed traveling with her husband and family camping all over the country. She was afraid of the water, but was able to water ski without getting her hair wet. She will be remembered as a devoted wife of 60 years and a great mother and grandmother.



Survivors also include a son, Greg (Deb) Markley, of Lima; two daughters, Deb Cox and Julie (Bill) Wright, both of Lima; seven grandchildren, Kelly (Stacy) Rouse, Eric (Abbey) Markley, Aaron (Amanda) Markley, Dustin (Shanda) Cox, Amy (Dave) Bushman, Lisa (Kevin) Hanchett and Bryan Wright; eight great-grandchildren, Logan, Lilly, Keagan, Kale, Kiah, Jonas, Sydney and Kamden, with another on the way; a brother Dale (Linda) Pease, of New Madison; and a sister, Anna (Chester) Bowers, of Gettysburg.



She was preceded in death by two brothers, Roland and Lester Pease; and a sister, Esther Woods.



Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel. The Rev. Mark Burden will officiate. Burial will be in Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove.



Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
