LIMA — Louella M. (Crow) Root, 81, of Lima, died at 7:53 a.m., Sunday, May 05, 2013, at her residence surrounded by her children.
She was born July 4, 1931, in Wapakoneta to Walter and Alma (Reier) Crow who preceded her in death. On July 31, 1945, she married John E. Root who preceded her in death on August 2, 2006.
Louella was a 1949 graduate of St. Rose High School. She had worked at various jobs over the years. She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and its’ Altar Rosary Society. She actively volunteered at St. Rose School over the years in the cafeteria and the Home & School Board. Louella loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed attending all her grandchildren’s sporting and school events. She was an avid traveler over the years with her husband. She enjoyed cuddling with her two dogs, Duke and Duchess.
Surviving are her children: Julie Lee, Vickie (Aimel) Gibson, Darlene Hammond, Lisa Root, and Robert Steven Root; eleven grandchildren: Niki (Rob) Lemin, James (Margie Mason) Lee, Blaine Lee, Brian (Deb) Du Vernay, Elaine (Richard) Miller, Angie Mox, David Gibson, Aaron Root, Kristy (Terry Landwehr) Hammond, Rick (Amber Maxwell) Hammond and Cindy Hammond; sixteen great-grandchildren: Tiffani Dawson, Emily Miller, Katie Miller, Stacy Miller, Julie Lee, Jamie Lee, Mason Du Vernay, Ally Du Vernay, Kyla Lemin, Jordan Hammond, Jenna Lee, Blaici Lee, Breonnah Hammond, Camryn Hammond, Jacob Lee and Sophia Lemin; three great-great-grandchildren: Trey Parkison, Dyllan Day and Hunter Day; three siblings: Harold (Peg) Crow, Ken (Shelba) Crow and Carolyn (Mark) Butorac; three sisters-in-law: Nancy Crow, Betty Hughes and De De Root.
A son, Jack Root, preceded her in death, along with two brothers: Larry D. Crow and Richard Crow; a brother-in-law, Albert E. Root; and a sister-in-law, Julie “Judy” Root.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, in St. Rose Catholic Church, with Fr. David Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Gethesemani Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 2-4, and 6-8 p.m., at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home.
