OTTAWA — Max E. Schoepfle, 78, died at 10:10 p.m. Sept. 16, 2012, at St. Rita’s Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center, Glandorf.

He was born July 20, 1934, in Bellefontaine to William H. and Margaret Downing Schoepfle. His mother survives in Bellefontaine and his father preceded him in death. On Nov. 21, 1955, he married Ruth M. Salsburey, who survives in Ottawa.

Max retired from Phillips in Ottawa as a mechanical maintenance man where he worked for 38 years. He was a member of Ottawa Missionary Church where he was a trustee. His favorite pastime was playing and performing music. He loved to do woodworking in his garage.

Survivors also include three children, Daniel (Jamie) Schoepfle, of Ottawa, Paula Altstaetter, of Lima, and Darlene (Ken) Teders, of Ottawa; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Schoepfle, of Bellefontaine; and a sister-in-law, Barb Schoepfle, of Bellefontaine.

He is preceded in death by a son, Frankie Schoepfle; and a brother, William Schoepfle.

Services will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ottawa Missionary Church. The Rev. Marshall Metzger will officiate. Burial will follow in Harman Cemetery, Gilboa.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Ottawa and 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ottawa Missionary Church.
