LIMA


Ralph Jeffers, 57, of Toledo, formerly of Lima, died at 1:25 p.m. Aug 1, 2013, at his residence.


He was born Jan. 9, 1956, in Columbia, S.C., to Willie and Josephine Smith Jeffers, who preceded him in death. He married Marquita J. Overton, who survives in Toledo.


Mr. Jeffers was a National Guard member. He had been a cook at Casa Bearing Mexican Restaurant, Toledo. He was a member of United Baptist Church. He loved fishing and doing landscaping.


Survivors also include two sons, Gary Overton, of Fostoria, and Timothy Overton, of Toledo; two daughters, Natasha Lane and Tammy Overton, both of Toledo; 11 grandchildren; six brothers, Willie (Anna Ruth) Johnson, Bill (Chloe) Jeffers, Bobby Jeffers, Joseph Jeffers, Greg (Gail) Johnson and Michael (Rosanna) Johnson, all of Lima; and five sisters, Jackie Barnett, of Lima, Gale (James) Lipkins and Kathy Jordan, both of Fort Wayne, Ind., Carrie Pernell, of Columbus, and Sheila Johnson, of Detroit.


He was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Jean Johnson and Tina Johnson.


Services will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Arnold Manley will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.


Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the church.
