COLUMBUS GROVE



Vivian Ann Halker, 86, died at 3 p.m. Nov. 27, 2007, at her residence surrounded by her family.



She was born July 11, 1921, in Ottawa to Lawrence and Martha Feltman Meyer, who preceded her in death. On April 26, 1947, she married Harold "Hattie" Halker, who survives.



Mrs. Halker retired from Hawkey's Pharmacy, Columbus Grove, and had worked at Triplett Corp., Bluffton, Ohio Power, Ottawa, and managed the lunch counter at the Stockyards, Columbus Grove. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, and its Altar Rosary Society. She was a member of the American Disabled Veterans Auxiliary. She was a graduate of Ottawa High School. She loved doing her puzzle books and watching game shows. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, gambling and supporting the Columbus Grove Bulldogs, the Ohio State University Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds. Her children and grandchildren always knew the M&M jar and candy dish would always be full.



Survivors also include three sons, Robert (Phyllis) Halker, David (Vicky) Halker and Thomas (Sally) Halker, all of Columbus Grove; four daughters, Patti (Gord) Ridenour and Bonnie (Mike) Gertsen, both of Columbus Grove, Cindy (Tony) Hovest, of Ottawa, and Sherry (Troy) King, of Columbus Grove; two brothers, Donnie (Doris) Meyer and Kenny (Annie) Meyer, both of Ottawa; three sisters, Lil (Evan) Niswander, of Lima, Alice (Ray) Kohli, of Columbus, and Dee Dee Breece, of Ottawa; a sister-in-law, Normi Meyer, of Ottawa; 22 grandchildren, Lee Halker, Bob Halker, Casey (Brian Burkholder) Halker, Scott Ridenour, Shara (Opey) Roeder, Amber (Scott) Palte, April (Dan Higley) Gertsen, Arin Gertsen, Aimee Gertsen, Job (Jammie) Halker, Jeb (Adele) Halker, Trudy Halker, Sara (Paul) Schroeder, Augusta (Chad) Pollock, Aaron (Tricia) Halker, Jared (Michelle) Halker, Colby Halker, Tony "Herb" Hovest, Torey Hovest, Kayla King, Kelsy King and Nate King; 15 great-grandchildren, Payton and Shep Halker, Levi Burkholder, Kaya Gertsen, Regan Higley, Everett Palte, Kirby, Keaton, Reese and Anne Marie Halker, Adeleigh, Carver and Maddox Halker, Allie Rose Schroeder and Greyson Pollock.



She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jim Ridenour; two brothers, Bob and Ray Meyer; a sister-in-law, Dolores Meyer; and a brother-in-law, Louis Breece.



Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. The Rev. Ron Warnimont will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.



Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, where a Rosary service will be held at 8 p.m. today and a Scripture service at 8 p.m. Friday.



Memorial contributions may be made to the endowment fund at St. Anthony Catholic Church or to the Columbus Grove Athletic Department in memory of Jim Ridenour.
