Edith Wireman, 87, died at 11:40 a.m. April 16, 2013, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 31, 1926, in Knott County, Ky., to William and Laura Whittaker Smith, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 4, 1947, she married Vaughn Wireman, who survives in Lima.
Mrs. Wireman was a life member of Pentecostal Tabernacle. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include four sons, Gordon (Nancy) Conley, of Amarillo, Texas, Donnie (Sylvia) Wireman, of Lima, Kenny (Linda) Wireman, of Harrod, and Darrell Wireman, of Lima; two daughters, Lydia (Jon) Rector, of Tampa, Fla., and Evelyn Stone, of Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Mary Wireman, of Roundhead; and 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Conley; a granddaughter, Bethany Wireman; two brothers, Jim and Ernie Smith; six sisters, Nannie Collins, Minnie Griffith, Virgie Shepherd, Lula Shepherd, Carrie Collins, and Rosie Coburn; a brother-in-law, Robert Wireman; and a sister-in-law, Connie Smith.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Eastside Chapel. The Rev. Eugene Haney will officiate. Burial will be in Allentown Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
