Thomas E. “Pete” Lauck, 90, died at 3:05 a.m. May 6, 2013, at Lima Convalescent Home.



He was born Aug. 6, 1922, in Mount Blanchard to Harry F. and Hazel R. Moyer Lauck Sr., who preceded him in death. He had been married to Mary L. Nusser Reed.



Mr. Lauck was a 1940 graduate of Mount Blanchard High School. He worked on his parents’ dairy farm until he joined the military. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1943 to 1946 as a heavy equipment operator. Following the war, he continued as a heavy equipment operator, working at the Lima Tank Depot, Kohl’s Construction Co. and with several other construction contractors. He retired from Sheller-Globe Co., Union City, Ind., after 13 years. He did the grading for the original Lima Senior High School, the Lima-Allen County Fairgrounds and Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant. He maintained and managed several apartment complexes in Indiana. These are a few of the vocational accomplishments he was able to achieve, and he always will be remembered as a hard worker.



Survivors include three daughters, Linda L. (Fred) Fleischmann, of Troy, and Susan D. Gesler-Renshaw and Robin A. (Rolly Sr.) Jorgensen, both of Lima; two brothers, Paul Lauck, of Mount Blanchard, and Louie (Maxine) Lauck, of Findlay; a brother-in-law, Carl Betts, of Mount Blanchard; 11 grandchildren, Michelle (Jay Schulz) Wood, Amy (Joe) Kollars, Christopher (Kristine) Fleischmann, David Gesler, Douglas (Heidi) Gesler, Derek (Aimee) Gesler, Danae (Josh Little) Newman, Stacy Jorgensen, Rolly “R.J.” Jorgensen Jr., Barbie Jorgensen and Mark Solomon; 23 great-grandchildren, with another great-grandson on the way; and a great-great-granddaughter.



He was preceded in death by two brothers, Forest (Delores) Lauck and Harry “Junior” Lauck Jr.; two sisters, Mary Ruth Betts and infant Sally Lauck; and a granddaughter, Tami Wood Solomon.



Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Eastside Chapel, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 and the Army honor guard. The Rev. Randy Bargerstock will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Bluelick Cemetery.



Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.



Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of the donor’s choice.



Condolences may be expressed at the charity of the donor’s choice.



He appreciated the friendships and exceptional care he received at Lochhaven Assisted Living. The family would also like to thank his special friend, Dyann Stevens, for always being by his side.
