George Herman Kuhbander, 93, died at 3:30 p.m. April 28, 2013, at The Meadows of Leipsic.
He was born Aug. 18, 1919, in Dayton to the late John and Monica Kleoppel Kuhbander. On April 23, 1946, he married Mary Ellen Meyer, who survives at The Meadows of Leipsic.
Also surviving are two children, Rick (Liz) Kuhbander, of Hamler, and Karen (Kenneth) Maag, of Ottawa; five grandchildren, Scott (Marcia) Maag, of Ottawa, Randy (Jill) Maag, of Massillon, Ryan (Tiffany) Maag, of Columbus, Brad Kuhbander, of Onsted, Mich., and Kelly Kuhbander, of Norwalk; eight great-grandchildren, Sydney and Delaney Maag, of Massillon, Morgan, Kamron, Theo, Claudia and Isaiah Maag, of Ottawa, and Kaelyn Maag, of Columbus; a sister, Eva Hughes, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and a brother, Rudy Kuhbander, of Celina.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Kuhbander; four brothers, Alfred, Edward, Adam and Patrick Kuhbander; and five sisters, Florence Lauf, Helen Chamberlin, Louise Halker, Rose Laubenthal and Mary Catherine Watkins.
George worked at Ex-Cell-O, Gerding Paving and Orville Achors Log Hauling. He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, where he had served as an usher for many years. He was presently a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf. He was a life member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2234, Ottawa .
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf. Father Tony Fortman will officiate. Burial will be in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Ottawa.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, where a rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church or to Putnam County Hospice.
