KENTON — Cheri M. “Dixie Rose” Warren, 56, died Oct. 18, 2012. at 4:23 p.m. at her residence in Kenton.
She was born on Oct. 11, 1956, in Kenton to Carl D. and F. Jeanne Vermillion Hepner, who preceded her in death. She first married Keith O. Steele, and they were divorced, he survives in Kenton. She later married John A. Warren, and he survives in Kenton.
Cheri worked in sales at Harley-Davidson Motor Co., Lima. However she was best known for being a radio personality at T-102 of Lima.
Cheri was a 1975 graduate of Ada High School and a graduate of the American School of Broadcasting, Columbus. She was a member of the St. John United Church of Christ, Kenton. Cheri battled cancer for more than 3 years, winning the battle twice. To the end she was a fighter, affectionately dubbed “Rocky” for her strength and tenacity. Her greatest joy was her children, to whom she was the most supportive and caring mother. She often traveled with her children, producing some of her fondest memories. Cheri was also an avid motorcyclist, proudly riding thousands of miles on her own Harley-Davidson Ultra along with her husband. Cheri’s dog, Rosie, provided her tremendous happiness and they were inseparable.
Also surviving are a son, Jeremiah Steele, of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Janelle Steele, of Columbus; two stepdaughters, Kelli (Jake) Blackburn and Ginna (Chad) Lewandowski, both of Bluffton; a sister, Connie (Thomas) Lehmanm, of Ada; and four stepgrandchildren.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. John United Church of Christ, 211 E. Carrol St., Kenton. Pastor Neil D. Partington will officiate. Burial will be in Thompson Cemetery, Bluffton.
Friends may call 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. It was Cheri’s request that everyone dress casually for visitation and the funeral service and weather permitting, please ride your motorcycle.
