LIMA — Mayme E. Fleming, 98, died at 4:40 p.m. April 3, 2013, at Shawnee Manor.
She was born June 22, 1914, in Urban Station to Neal and Pearlie Graham Bennette. On Feb. 28, 1949, she married Van Fleming, who died June 13, 1973.
Mrs. Fleming was a founding member of Greater Christ Temple, where she attended for more than 50 years. She was a member of the women’s ministry, a former Sunday school teacher and a member of the women’s choir. She loved the church, and also enjoyed cooking, sewing and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Gary (Sheila) Fleming, of Springfield; a daughter, Linda (Charles) Jenkins, of Lima; a special daughter, Tonya Bunley, of Columbus; a special son, Oliver Lee, of Lima; goddaughter Quan Cory, of Lima; and 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Phillip (Pearl) Stevens Sr. and Richard Fleming; a brother, William “Bud” Bennette; and five sisters, Ida Bennette Howell, Ethel Lomac, Maybelle Harris, Ruby Bennette and Norene Watson.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Tueday at Greater Christ Temple, Lima. Pastor Michael Cooper Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
