LimaWilliam D. “Bill” Sorensen, 76, died at 4 a.m. May 4, 2012, at his residence.He was born March 20, 1937, in Lima to Soren Christian and Iva Deene Neal Sorensen. On Sept. 10, 1961, he married Janet Evans, who survives.Mr. Sorensen was a 1955 graduate of Lima Central High School. He was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. He retired as owner/operator of The Handyman. He worked as a broker in real estate for Iva Deene Sorensen and Son and had also worked as an insurance agent for American General. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Marines. He had a lifelong love of photography, having been a member of the ArtSpace Photography Club and the Wassenburg Photography Club in Van Wert.Survivors also include a daughter, Tracy A. (Elena M. Lamar) Sorensen, of Lithia, Fla.; two sons, Dean C. (Lori) Sorensen, of Reynoldsburg, and Daniel W. Sorensen, of Denver,; a sister, Nancy (David) Ventker, of Cincinnati; three sisters-in-law, Kathryn Diehl, of DeLand, Fla., Sue (Paul) Murray, of Albany, N.Y., and Liz (David) Courtney, of Davis, W.Va.; and a brother-in-law, Tony (Terry) Adams, of Coldwater.He was preceded in death by an infant son; a brother, Neil C. Sorensen; and a sister, Genevieve Elliot.Services will begin at noon Tuesday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Pastor James Couser will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites by Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 1275.Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel, and 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the church.
