LIMA — James E. Sanders, 71, died at 11:47 a.m. May 17, 2013, at his residence.
He was born June 10, 1941, in Lima to Levi J. and Loretta Prine Sanders, who preceded him in death. On April 15, 1974, he married Marie E. Sanders, who died Dec. 5, 1992.
Mr. Sanders had worked for United Steel Grave Vault and most recently for Pilgrim Place Senior Apartments. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Browns. He loved spending time with his family, meeting new people and listening to music.
Survivors include four daughters, Bernida M. (Elliot Hatton) Sanders and Tammy M. Grounds, both of Lima, Robin L. (David Guy) Sanders, of Wapakoneta, and Annettte M. Roberts-McGinnis, of Lima; two sons, Clint D. Roberts, of Galion, and Franklin W. Roberts, of Lima; 14 grandchildren, Natacha M. (Derek) Kerby, JerriAnn (Anthony Green) Sanders, RaLisha L. (Beau) Herman, David D. (Juli) Sanders, Ryan A. Scott, Nicole R. Roberts, Stephen J. Scott, Jessi L. (Josh) Eads, Torie D. (Scott) Schram, William L. (Heidi) Sanders, Walter J. McGinnis, Brandy L. Sanders-Guy, Mindy L. (Josh) Friesthaler and Crystal G. (Nathan) Bradford; 20 great-grandchildren, Kayla, Morgan, Carson G., Noah, Emily, Bre-anna, Olivia, Carson K., Carter, Camden, Audrianna, Mason, Trenton, Elora, Jeremiah, Alexis, Devon, Taylor, Gage and Joshlyn; three brothers, Norman Sanders, David Sanders and Raymond (Sue) Sanders; and six sisters, Joyce Kennedy, Leatha Slone, Sue (Larry) Yoast, Linda Hollenger, Shirley Tidd and Bridget Kennedy.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Donald E. Sanders; a sister, Betty Swick; and three brothers, Roger Sanders, Butch Sanders and Ralph Sanders.
Services will begin at noon Monday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel. Pastor Gary Bragg will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
