DELPHOS — Mary Agnes Hempfling, 87, died at 3:20 a.m. July 14, 2013, at Van Crest.
She was born July 3, 1926, in Ottoville to Theodore and Bernadine Hellman Beining, who preceded her in death. On July 2, 1949, she married Herbert Hempfling, who survives in Delphos.
Mrs. Hempfling enjoyed sewing, playing cards, and gardening. She loved spending time with her family. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She volunteered at the nursing home, St. Rita's and the Delphos Thrift Shop. She worked at Meyers Cleaners then worked at the Drapery Stitch
Survivors also include a son, Jack (Sandy) Hempfling, of Le Roy, N.Y.; two daughters, Judy Hempfling, of Yellow Springs, and Mary Lou (Keith) Pohlman, of Delphos; two sisters, Alice Arnzen, of Delphos, and Irene (Joe) Schroeder, of Ottawa; a brother, Ray Beining, of Delphos; a daughter-in-law Agnes Hempfling; and 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Terry Hempfling; three sisters, Mildred Beckman, Angela Kimmet and Gertrude Schmitz; and a brother, Rudy Beining.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The Rev. Dave Reinhart will officiate. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, Delphos, where there will be a Catholic Daughters of the Americas service at 7 p.m. and a parish wake service at 7:30 p.m.
