Rose Rita Gorman
Rose Rita Gorman, 92, went home to our heavenly Father at 7:55 a.m. March 24, 2013, after a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 3, 1920, in Lima, to Maurice and Anna Matthiae Frawley. On June 28, 1941, she married Floyd R. Gorman, who died Sept. 27, 1989.
She was a devoted wife and homemaker. She worked briefly at Westinghouse and Paddy Macs. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370 Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Orioles Nest 173, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 Auxiliary, the American Legion, the Women of the Moose, The Red Hats, Daughters of Isabella, and St. Gerard Catholic Church and its Rosary Altar Society.
She enjoyed bowling, golfing, gambling, playing cards and cooking for people. She was always on the move, eager to lend a helping hand and care for people. She always had remarkable energy, more than the energizer bunny.
She was a loving supportive aunt to several nieces and nephews, who loved her dearly and a devoted friend to many. Her generosity touched many lives.
She was the best sister-in-law, companion and friend to William “Billy Joe” (Elaine) Gorman, of Delphos, Linda (John) Dodge, of Lima, and Rose Gorman. She will be greatly missed but leaves behind a legacy of love.
She was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Tom Gorman and Bob (Ginny) Gorman; and a sister-in-law, Joan (Richard) Frueh.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where a wake service will begin at 8 p.m.
A memorial Mass will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Gerard Catholic Church. Father Mike Houston will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Gerard Catholic Church, 240 W. Robb St., Lima, OH 45801.
