Gary L. Sherer, 67, died at 3:30 a.m. Sept. 3, 2007, in the St, Rita's Medical Center emergency room.

He was born Jan. 10, 1940, in Allen County to Howard W. and Albertina Sweiner Sherer, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 4, 1965, he married Connie L. Kimble, who survives.

Mr. Sherer retired this year as a forklift operator at Marathon Electric Co. after 33 years. He was a 30-year member of Grace Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran. He loved to ride his motorcycle and he enjoyed bow hunting. He loved and enjoyed his grandchildren. He drove the church bus for 30 years, was very active in his church and he loved the Lord.

Survivors also include a son, Howard W. (Joy) Sherer, of Lima; two daughters, April L. (Jim) Moser and Linda K. Allen, both of Lima; two brothers, Tony Sherer, of Lima, and Carl (Sylvia) Sherer, of Findlay; a brother-in-law, Jim Schultz; and five grandchildren, Damon, Amanda, Kadesha, Garrison and Laci.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia Schultz.

Services will begin at 7 p.m. today at Grace Baptist Church. The Rev. Matthew Oliver will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery, Dayton, with military rites by the Army.

Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the church.
