JANE KLINGENBERGER, 81, died at 11:40 p.m. May 2, 2006, at Lost Creek Care Center, Lima, with her children by her side, following a year-long illness.
She was born March 7, 1925, in Marion to Carl and Hazel Jacobs Gilbert, who preceded her in death. On Dec. 14, 1945, she married James L. Klingenberger, who died July 11, 2003.
Mrs. Klingenberger was a homemaker who delighted in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Ada, for more than 50 years, where she served as an elder, clerk of session and a Sunday school teacher for several years. She and her husband were co-winners of the Ada Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award in 1998. She was a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 590 Auxiliary and a sister in Chapter O of the PEO. She was a former member of the Ada EMT Squad, the Junior Civic League and the Ohio Northern Faculty Wives. She was a longtime volunteer of the Lima Memorial Auxiliary. She was also a volunteer for the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association and several other local service organizations.
Survivors include two sons, Mark D. (Joanna) Klingenberger of North Canton and Keith C. Klingenberger of Lakeview; three daughters, Karen S. (Jeff) Montgomery of Ada, Diane M. (Joe) Schoeler of Canonsburg, Pa., and Debra J. Klingenberger of Ada; a daughter-in-law, Janis L. Klingenberger of Granville; a brother, Bill (Jo) Gilbert of Portsmouth; a sister, Garnet (Russell) Simmons of Palm Coast, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Jean Klingenberger of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, James R. "Rick" Klingenberger; two brothers, Jay and Robert Gilbert; and a sister, Phyllis Gilbert.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada. The Rev. Patrick Allen will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, the PEO Scholarship Funds or the Professor James L. Klingenberger Scholarship at Ohio Northern University, Ada.
