LIMA — Sandra K. Sprague Pierson, 59, died at 7:19 a.m. Aug. 2, 2013, at Lima Memorial Health System.


She was born Sept. 8, 1953, in Lima to Joseph A. and Gladys Thomas Sprague, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 1o, 1978, she married Paul W. Pierson Jr., who survives in Lima.


Mrs. Pierson was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She retired from Allen Correctional Institution in 2013. She was loved by all members of the church. She was an avid bingo player. She was known to use the saying, “It’s my way or the highway.” She was the pride and joy of her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and will be deeply missed.


Survivors also include a daughter, Sonja (Ray) Hodges, of Warsaw; a son, Paul W. (Tina) Pierson III, of Ada; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Oliver Sprague, Joe A. (Diana) Sprague Jr. and Ricky D. (Sue) Sprague, all of Lima, and Jerry (Lori) Sprague, of Uniopolis; a sister, Cheryl (Greg) Mault, of Lima; special nieces and nephews; best friends, Melvin and Kay Poling; numerous bingo buddies and several special friends from the Allen Correctional Institution.


She was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Lynn Pierson.


Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Eastside Chapel. Pastor Matthew Oliver will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.


Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
