McGuffey



WILLIAM R. "BILL" BEAMAN, 79, died at 12:55 p.m. Feb. 5, 2005, at his residence.



He was born May 29, 1925, in Kenton to Snowden and Eunice McGuffey Beaman, who preceded him in death. On July 22, 1945, he married Helen C. Scott, who survives in Kenton.



Mr. Beaman was a lifelong farmer. He was a charter member of the McGuffey Volunteer Fire Company, a charter and life member of the McGuffey Conservation Club and a member of the National Farmers Organization. He was a life member of the Ada Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and the National Rifle Association. He was an Army veteran, having served during World War II in Europe. He received a Silver Star and Purple Heart.



Survivors also include seven sons, William E. (Alice) Beaman of Kenton, Dr. Robert P. (Joni) Beaman of Klamath Falls, Ore., Brice (JoEllen) Beaman of Alger, Brent Beaman of Heath, Brad Beaman of Cleveland, Barth Beaman of Columbus and Bryan (Lynn) Beaman of Alger; two daughters, Barbara Beaman of Kenton and Becky (Don) Diglia of Lima; a brother, Bob (Pat) Beaman of Salem, Ore.; a sister, Betty (John) McDaniel of Los Angeles; two special friends of the family, David (Peg) Wright and Felix (Francis) Poe, both of Kenton; 21 grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by a grandson, J.W. Ralston.



Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger. Pastor Ron Briggs will officiate. Burial will follow at Preston Cemetery, Alger, with military rites by the Ada VFW.



Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.



In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the McGuffey Volunteer Fire Company.
