WAPAKONETA — Gary D, Sheipline, 72, of Wapakoneta, and Nokomis, Fla., died unexpectedly June 9, 2013, of heart failure at Venice
Regional Hospital, Venice Fla.
Gary’s family consisted of his wife, Madelaine, and his brother, Larry (Karen) Sheipline, of Hershey, Pa. His parents, Leonard and Fredonia Sheipline predeceased him in death.
He was a graduate of Blume High School, Wapakoneta, and received a bachelor’s degree in commercial art and design from The Ohio State University. He subsequently attained a master degree in fine art from Tulsa University. He served in the Air Force National Guard during the Vietnam War period. Gary spent his professional career in the field of commercial art and design. He concluded his career as national exhibit manager for two major Silicon Valley technology companies, Apple Inc. and Sun Microsystems, now part of Oracle Corp.
Upon retirement, Gary split his time between Wapakoneta and Nokomis, Fla., pursing his artisan interests, which included creating award-winning photography, designing and developing architectural birdhouses and creating original decorative stained glass panels. He had broad interests and diverse taste in restoring and maintaining vintage automobiles, collecting and creating international garden railroad equipment and layouts, executing architectural and landscape designs, and collecting blown glass sculptures. He was a past trustee of the Wapakoneta Area Community Foundation. He was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ and an active participant at the Wapakoneta YMCA.
