LIMA Doris J. Stevenson Wantuch, 83, died at 6:14 p.m. June 16, 2013, at Lima Memorial Health System.



She was born Sept. 29, 1929, in Westminster to Carl and Alma Creps Stevenson, who preceded her in death. On Feb. 10, 1955, she married Edward Wantuch, who survives in Lima.



Mrs. Wantuch was a 1947 graduate of Harrod High School, Harrod. She graduated in 1950 as a registered nurse from the Lima Memorial School of Nursing. She had worked at Lima Memorial Health System and for several local doctors. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. She was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and The Ohio State University Buckeyes. She enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas.



Survivors also include a son, Joe (Therese) Wantuch, of Cincinnati; three daughters, Jeannine (George) Hakin, of Lima, Kathy (Todd) Hixson, of Zanesville, and Mary Linda (Jeff) Schroeder, of Hilliard; and seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by four brothers, Orville, Willis, Gale-Leroy and Byron Stevenson; and four sisters, Marcella Batch, Lela Crabb, Lola Brantley and Mary Andrews.



Services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel. The Rev. Gale Gebhart will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Gethsemani Cemetery.



Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.



Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
