Bernice Thomas, 76, died at 8:15 p.m. Feb. 11, 2008, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 1, 1931, in Greenwood, Miss., to Anderson and Rosa Ross Goosby Sr., who preceded her in death. In 1981, she married James Thomas, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Thomas retired as an administrative assistant from Bradfield Community Center. She was a member of First Church of God at the Cross Roads, and its Senior Club.
Survivors include a son, Dwight Goosby, of Lima; three siblings, Catherine Daniels, Lillie M. Alexander, and Eddie Goosby, all of Chicago; six stepchildren, Michael Thomas, of Muncie, Ind., Adrian Thomas, of New Haven, Ind., Charlie Thomas, William Thomas and Sandra Thomas, all of Lima, and Cynthia Ware, of Maryland; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and her longtime friend, Dougie Franklin, of Lima.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Anderson Goosby Jr.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
