Shirley I. Fox, 78, died at 7:32 p.m. Nov. 7, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 5, 1934, in Lima to John A. and Ida Irene Ross Pratt, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Fox was a 1952 graduate of Lima South High School. She was a Marine Corps veteran serving during the Korean War. She had worked at Ex-Cell-O. She had been a candy striper at Lima Memorial Hospital. She attended Cable Road Alliance Church, Korean Alliance and Firm Foundations Church, where she was active, from teaching Sunday school to working in the nurseries. Her enjoyments were reading the Bible, listening to WTGN radio and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered for being a very loving mother and giving person, who shared her love for Christ.
Survivors include three children, Drew (Sheila) Fox, of Lima, Dawn (Craig) Storaska, of St. Marys, and Doug (Ginger) Fox, of Elida; a brother, Terry (Waunitta) Pratt, of Lima; three sisters, Nancy Pratt, of Lima, Janice (Dale) Padgett, of Holly Ridge, N.C., and Phyllis Eltzroth, of Westerville; and 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Cope; a grandson, Clint Cope; a sister, Margaret Szymkowski; and a brother, John A. “Sonny” Pratt Jr.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Firm Foundations Church. Scott Dove and Doneta Warren will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Venedocia Cemetery, Venedocia.
