Louise K. Cooley, 95, of Columbus, formerly of Lima, died Jan. 26, 2009, at St. Ann's Hospital.
She was born Oct. 27, 1913, to Joseph and Mabel Knipper, who preceded her in death. On Feb. 28, 1942, she married Charles Cooley, who survives. They were married almost 67 years.
Mrs. Cooley had been a secretary at Aetna Standard, Copperweld Steel Co. and the YWCA, all in Warren. She had also been a secretary for the Lima district superintendent from 1953 to 1955, and in the music department at Western Michigan University. She had worked in sales for Prudential Insurance, worked for Kappa Phi Sorority at Ohio University and taught a children's class at Presbyterian Church, Champion. She had been a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service, the CF Chapter of PEO Sisterhood and was a national sponsor for Kappa Phi. She established King's Way Fellowship Campus Ministry at The Ohio State University. She was active in the Women's Society at King Avenue and Westgate United Methodist churches. Following their retirement in 1988, she and her husband enjoyed the Church of the Master, Church of the Messiah and Stoneybrook United Methodist Church.
Memorial services will begin at 1 p.m. Feb. 28 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel, Columbus.
