Willie Cleveland Shurelds, 57, died at 11:33 a.m. Nov. 25, 2012, at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born May 16, 1955, in Lima to Waydell and Lucille Danzy Shurelds. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in Gainesville, Fla. On June 13, 1987, he married Oveta L. Houston, who survives in Lima.
Mr. Shurelds was a chef, working at Applebee’s and Ruby Tuesday for over 30 years. He was a 1973 graduate of Lima Senior High School.
Survivors also include a son, Raj K. Houston, of Lima; four daughters, Savitri Houston, of Orlando, Fla., Teniea (Michael) Thomas, of North Carolina, Shalonda Shurelds, of Gainsville, Fla., and Dora Shurelds, of Toledo; six brothers, Robert Shurelds, Ronnie Shurelds and Ricky Shurelds, all of Gainesville, Fla., and Dana Shurelds, Jeff Shurelds and Chris Shurelds, all of Lima; a mother-in-law, Mary Callahan, of Lima; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Gillard; maternal grandparents, Leroy and Allene Richardson Danzy; and paternal grandparents, Willie Cleveland and Dora Amerson Shurelds.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Jones-Clark Funeral Home Inc. Chapel.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
