LIMA — Martha Alice Brock, 83, died at 3:35 a.m. March 11, 2013, at Lima Convalescent Home.
She was born June 17, 1929, in Lima to Oscar and Sarah Shaffer Brock, who preceded her in death.
Ms. Brock worked for the Lima Public Library from 1954 to 1995. She became the head of extension in July 1980 and was later promoted to head of children’s in April 1988 before her retirement in 1995. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Children’s Evangelism Fellowship. She had a lovely singing voice. Her hobbies included reading and crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed the companionship and comfort of her cats.
Survivors include a sister, Helen Agnes Brock-Godfrey, of Annapolis, Md.; a niece, Debbie (Steve) Godfrey Brown, of Foster, R.I.; a great-niece, Chani Adams, of Indian Head, Md.; a great-nephew, Shaffer Robinson, of South Riding, Va.; and special angel, Timothy (Eva) Mosher, of Lima.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Brock; a niece, Kate Godfrey Robinson; and beloved cat, Andy.
Services begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Eastside Chapel. Pastor Ali Petrey will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
