OTTAWACarl R. Rockers Sr., 84, died at 5:55 a.m. April 30, 2011, at the Hartland of Oregon, Ohio.He was born May 19, 1926, in Anderson County, Kan., to Peter and Ida Steinbach Rockers, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 10, 1946, he married Margaret Sullivan, who died May 14, 2002.Mr. Rockers was a purchasing agent at Ford Lima Engine Plant and retired as a manufacture representative for Industrial Tools. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Ottawa, and a life member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foriegn Wars, both in Ottawa.Survivors include four children, Ann (Ed) Hovest, of Ottawa, Eileen Rockers, of Findlay, Patricia Rockers, of Lima, and Rita (Dave) Sweet, of Ottawa; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by two sons, Carl Rockers Jr. and Joseph Rockers; three brothers, Harold, Ralph and Walter Rockers; and three sisters, Rita Haas, Bernadette Makus and Bernice Rockers.A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. The Rev. Alfons Minja will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military rites by the Ottawa American Legion and VFW.Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, where a VFW service will begin at 7 p.m. and K. of C. Rosary at 7:30 p.m.Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, SS. Peter and Paul Parish or Putnam County YMCA.Condolences may be expressed at www.lovefuneralhome.com.
