LIMA — Lois A. Compton, 64, died peacefully at 5:30 p.m. May 18, 2013, at her residence surrounded by her loving family listening to their singing.
She was born March 1, 1949, in Lima to Raymond and Betty Shepherd Woodall, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 6, 1964, she married Pastor Joe Compton Sr., who survives in Lima.
Mrs. Compton met the love of her life during grade school. She will be remembered for her great ability to comfort others and pray for them. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and give of herself in any way. She was the assistant pastor of Full Gospel Temple of Love, where she led the singing and led the Women's Bible Study. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family, especially while being outdoors, whether camping or swimming.
Survivors also include four children, Richard M. (Kristy) Compton II, of Lima, Betty L. (David) Ketcham, of Cincinnati, and Joe (Deb) Compton Jr., and Jamie R. (Jessica) Compton Sr., both of Lima; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Lousie (Herman) Perry, Barb Meloy, Norma (Kenneth) Hollar, Bonnie (Robert) Thomas, and Connie Williams, all of Lima; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Tennessee and John Whitaker and Donnie and Johnny Woodall.
Services will begin at noon Tuesday at Full Gospel Temple of Love. Pastor Mathias Snodderly will officiate. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the church.
