Robert “Bob” J. Leis, 79, died at 7:45 a.m. Jan. 1, 2011, in the Hardin Memorial Hospital intensive care unit.
He was born Jan. 25, 1931, in Spencerville to Ora and Mildred Stelzer Leis, who preceded him in death. He married Peggy Newman, and they divorced.
Mr. Leis was a funeral director and owner of Leis Funeral Home, in Spencerville, and Hull-Leis Funeral Home, in Kenton. He graduated from Spencerville High School and attended Bowling Green State University. He graduated from the Cleveland College of Mortuary Science. He was a member of Kenton Latham Masonic Lodge 154, Kenton Elks Lodge 157 and the Kenton Ministerial Association. He was a former member of the Spencerville I.O.O.F. and the Kenton Lions Club. He attended First Baptist Church in Kenton. He was a resident of Kenton since Dec. 30, 1971.
Survivors include three daughters, Christina (Gerald) Dyer, of Hepburn, Melanie (Todd) York, of Lees Summit, Mo., and Renee (John) Miller, of Hilliard; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a stepgrandchild and four stepgreat-grandchildren; two aunts, Mable Wright, of Cridersville, and Myrtle Strahm, of Orlando, Fla.; and a special friend, Rosalie Barrett.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Kenton. Pastor Craig Mansfield will officiate.
There will be no visitation at the request of Mr. Leis.
