Kenneth H. Smith, 80, died at 8 a.m. Dec. 9, 2010, at Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora.
He was born April 29, 1930, in Lima to Benjamin Kissell and Ruth Catherine Yant Smith, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Smith was a 1948 graduate of Vaughnsville High School. He was an Air Force veteran, serving from 1949 to 1953 in Germany. He retired in 1992 as a vertical turn lathe operator from Airfoil Textron/Ex-Cell-O Corp. after 34 years. He was an avid fisherman, who enjoyed going to Wellston, Mich., to fish on the Pine River. Following his retirement he spent half his time in Michigan fishing and the other half in Vaughnsville. He hosted several fish fries for his friends and fellow campers. His two dogs, Ginger and Sadie, were his beloved companions.
Survivors include two brothers, Ivan D. Smith, of Spokane, Wash., and Norman K. (Martha) Smith, of Vaughnsville; three nieces, Cathy Repp, of Spanaway, Wash., Denise (Eric) Graham, of Elida, and Rachel (Kevin) Barnette, of Vaughnsville; two nephews, David (Paula) Smith, of Spanaway, Wash., and Craig (Lora) May, of Columbus Grove; and six great-nieces and four great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Kermit Smith, who died at birth; and a sister-in-law, Aleen Smith.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Pastor James Neighbors will officiate. Burial will be in Vaughnsville Cemetery with military rites.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
