WAPAKONETA



Ned F. Coon, 80, died at 3:18 p.m. Nov. 8, 2012, at Lima Memorial Health System, surrounded by his family, following a brief illness.



He was born Nov. 9, 1931, on his grandparentsí farm, near Buckland, the son of Harley and Eva Ramga Coon, who preceded him in death.



Survivors include, three children, Patricia Werst, of Wapakoneta, Tim (Pam) Coon, of Wapakoneta, and Matthew (Amy) Coon, of McCordsville, Ind.; a grandson, Allen Thorpe, of Cincinnati; and a great-grandson, Jacob Thorpe, of Cincinnati.



Ned was a 1949 graduate of Blume High School. A highly skilled machinist, tool and die maker, Ned worked at several leading machine shops throughout Michigan and Ohio before finally retiring in 1995, from the Lima Engine Plant of Ford Motor Co. Ned was a founding member of the Shawnee Long Rifle Association and past member of the National Muzzle Loader Rifle Association, National Rifle Association, Tri-State Gun Collectors Association, Brands Lake Fishing Club, and Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 691, Wapakoneta. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, going to auctions and gun shows.



A private funeral service will be held at a later date.



Memorials may be directed to Wapakoneta EMS.
