LIMA — Thomas J. “Papa” Casey, 88, of Toledo, formerly of Lima, passed away Nov. 10, 2012, at Parcliff Community of Toledo surrounded by his loving daughters, Kath and Fran.



Tom was born on June 24, 1924, in Lima to Michael and Kathryn Sullivan Casey. Tom married Cecelia Lynch in 1948 in Lima. They were married 47 years until her death in 1995.



He graduated from St. Rose School, Lima, Ohio. Tom proudly served in the Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He worked for Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, then Chesapeak & Ohio from 1941 until he retired in 1985. Tom also enjoyed playing the guitar and banjo and loved blue grass music. He loved taking walks with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He could also be seen walking his dog Lucy up and down Starr Avenue in Oregon.



Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cecelia; brothers, Bob, Dan, Gene, Bill and Dick; and sisters, Ester, Rose, Mary and Caddy.



Tom is survived by his children, Kath (Tim) Menard, Fran (Jim) Tscherne and John (Linda) Casey, all of Toledo, and Tim (Sheila) Casey, of Tennessee; brothers Frank (Ruth) Casey, of Wapakoneta, and Tim and Mike (Kay) Casey; and sister-in-law, Rita Casey. He has nine grandchildren, Tim (Laura) Menard, Dave (Chris) Menard, Mandy (Ray) Westover, Sara (Tom) Lajti, Jaime (Jason) Csehi, and Amy, Shelly, Brandi and Sean Casey; great-grandchildren, Savanah, Tabitha and Alexa Menard, Justin (Maureen) Pollauf, Brittany (Joe) Frank, Rylan Westover, Hannah, Katie and T.J. Lajti, and Addison and Clark Cshei and two more great-grandsons on the way; his first great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews from Lima.



Tom will be sadly missed by all who knew him.



He has donated his body to the University of Toledo Medical Center.



Tom will be remembered at a Memorial Mass at Good Shephard Church, 550 Clark St., Toledo, on Saturday at 11 a.m., where they will receive family and friends beginning at 9:30 a.m.



The family would like to thank Parkcliff Community & Heartland Hospice for their loving care given to our Dad. We also would like to thank the Veterans for their care and support.



Wear green for Papa, he loved being Irish!
