WAYNESFIELD — Norma Jean Davis, 83 of Waynesfield, went home to be with her Lord on March 17, 2013 at Auglaize Acres, Wapakoneta.
She was born December 19, 1929, the seventh child of thirteen who were born to Jesse & Edna (Vansky) Vermillion of Hardin County. She married George Davis on June 14, 1947 and he preceded her in death February 26, 2011.
From this marriage, they had two sons, Russ of Jenison, MI and Steve (Wyvetta) of New Salem, IL. Jean dearly loved her grandchildren, Jodie (John) Ryan, Chet Davis, Nicole (Joe) Wynkoop, and Nathan Davis. She was blessed with great-grandchildren, Taylor and Payton Ryan, Jordan and Bellamie Davis, Erinn, Chase, and Madison Wynkoop, and Jacqueline, Wessley, and Reese Davis. Her surviving siblings are Wanda Hamilton, Donna DeLong, Carol DeLong, Clyde Vermillion, and Raymond Vermillion, and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded by her parents and siblings, Mary Dunlap, Lucille Stocker, Emmitt, Floyd, Lloyd, John, and Ron Vermillion.
Jean was a Christian and a member of Belle Center Church of Christ, Belle Center, OH and truly was an example of being a Christian Lady. For many years she was employed by the Waynesfield-Goshen School District in the cafeteria/kitchen. Besides being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Jean was the anchor who held the family together by welcoming all members to the family into their home at any and all times. She spent days preparing and cooking for family reunions and was an excellent cook. She loved each and every family get-together. She could also bake beautiful wedding cakes and delicious pies, and won several ribbons in the local fairs. She enjoyed crocheting and over the years made lots of afghans and other gifts that were beautiful and always appreciated. To say the least, she was a very multi-talented lady. Norma Jean will forever be deeply loved and will be forever missed by all who knew her.
Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Armentrout Funeral Home with Rev. Don Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire, Ohio.
