Suicide threat closes U.S. 33
Comments 0 | Recommend 0ST. MARYS - A man threatening to jump from an overpass forced officials to shut down U.S. Route 33 for more than an hour Monday morning.
The 20-year-old rural Spencerville man threatened to jump from the overpass at state Route 116 and U.S. 33 shortly after 4:30 a.m. Monday. Deputies closed the road while negotiators from the Special Response Team talked him down.
The man was safely taken into custody and taken to St. Rita's Medical Center for evaluation, according to a release from the Auglaize County Sheriff's Office.
