Lima Senior’s Indiya Benjamin has been named first-team Division I All-Ohio in girls basketball.
The 5-foot, 6-inch senior guard, who is the Spartans’ girls basketball career scoring leader, averaged 20.1 points, 10.2 assists and 4.5 steals a game for Lima Senior, who finished 20-5 this season.
Benjamin was third-team All-Ohio last year as a junior and is this year’s Three Rivers Athletic Conference Player of the Year. She has signed with NCAA Division I Binghamton University.
Bath’s Madison Dackin was a third-team selection in Division II. The 5-foot, 9-inch junior averaged 13.3 points and 4.1 rebounds a game for the Wildkittens this season. Van Wert’s Erin Morrow also received honorable mention on the Division II All-Ohio team.
Princeton’s Kelsey Mitchell, a 5-foot, 7-inch point guard from Cincinnati Princeton, was the Division I Player of the Year. The Ohio State recruit averaged 24.9 points a game this season and scored a career-best 50 points in a regional semifinal win over Kettering Fairmont last week.
The other Division I first-team players are: Tierra Floyd (Toledo Notre Dame), Alyssa Rice (Reynoldsburg), Kristen Confroy (Solon), Baleigh Reid (Twinsburg), Marquia Turner (North Canton Hoover) and Kathryn Westbeld (Kettering Fairmont).
Jill Phillips (Cincinnati Princeton), Abbey Allerding (North Canton Hoover) and Kevin Braaten (Berea-Midpark) shared Division I Coach of the Year honors.
Laina Snyder, of Millersburg West Holmes, and Amanda Cahill, of Clyde, shared the Division II Player of the Year honors.
The other Division II first-team players were: Alli Pavlik (Cortland Lakeview), Sydney Brackenmyre (Clinton-Massie), Dominique Doseck (Athens), Shantell Bostick (Cleveland East Tech), Natalie Carpenter (Johnstown-Monroe), Jordan Korinek (Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary), Emma Bockrath (Kettering Alter).
The Division II Coaches of the Year were: Lamar Smith (Toledo Rogers), Gerry Lackey (Cincinnati Wyoming) and Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls).
