OAK HARBOR — The Lady Red managed to spoil the undefeated record of the Oak Harbor Lady Rockets Tuesday night with a 64-42 win. The anticpiated non-conference match-up of two undefeated teams didn’t disappoint.
Going into halftime the Lady Red had a slim 31-25 lead over the Lady Rockets, but the third quarter proved to be the turning point for the Lady Red to pull away. Oak Harbor only had one basket and a free-throw in the third quarter; whereas the Lady Red scored 17 points. This put the Lady Red up 48-28, but the Lady Rockets refused to go down with out a fight and in the fourth quarter stormed back adn scored 14 points trying to close the gap.
But the Lady Red added 16 more points to their already large gap. It wasn’t their best offensive game this season but the Lady Red still managed to have nine players score points. Leading the charge for the Lady Red again was junior Carly Santoro, who posted 22 total points. Senior Makala Daniel also had 12 points, this is the fourth time this season that Daniel has been in double digits.
The Lady Red maintain their undefeated status, 5-0 and are 2-0 in their NOL play. The team only need to win three more games to make head coach Ryan Orshoski the winningest coach in Lady Red basketball history. If they win their next two games the history making game will be the Lady Red’s home game on Monday, Dec. 3, against Walsh Jesiut.
The Lady Red will take the court again on Friday, Dec. 13, when they take on the Sandusky. The JV tip-off will be at 6 p.m., with the varsity game to follow immediately after.
The Lady Red JV team also took on Oak Harbor Tuesday night, and were also victorious, 45-21. The Lady Red were in control the whole game. The Lady Red only allowed nine baskets by the Lady Rockets the entire game. The leading scorer for the Lady Red was Sarah Bedell, who tallied up 10 points, closely behind Bedell were Ali Tommas with nine and Lauren Turner with eight points. The Lady Red JV is undefeated, 5-0 and are 2-0 in their NOL play.
