Crash victim ID'd as Sidney teen
SIDNEY
The person killed in a traffic crash northeast of Sidney on Saturday afternoon has been identified as Whitney Gross, 18, of Sidney.
The accident occurred at about 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of Mason and Thompson-Schiff roads northeast of Sidney, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. Gross was driving a Ford Taurus north on Thomson-Schiff Road when she failed to yield at a stop sign and pulled into the path of a Jeep traveling on Mason Road.
Gross was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. A passenger in her car, Cameron Chance, 18, of Sidney, was taken St. Rita’s Medical Center, according to the Sheriff’s Office. He was in serious condition Sunday night, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
The driver of the jeep, Tyler Shroyer, suffered minor injuries.
