Lima schools, LCC sign stadium contract
The Lima schools and Lima Central Catholic High School on Thursday entered into an agreement over use of Lima Stadium. Lima schools owns the stadium.
The Lima school board approved the 25-year contract at its regular meeting. The contract includes a 25-year renewal. The contract guidelines are the same as in past years, Athletic Director Jim Offenbaker said.
LCC pays a $100 fee if it uses lights, and an hourly fee for a maintenance person, but not rent for the stadium on Bellefontaine Avenue. Other schools and entities using the stadium pay rent and the other fees, Offenbaker said.
The two schools have had an agreement for more than 50 years, but nothing in writing until a few years ago, Offenbaker said. A committee representing both schools worked on the contract. Both schools are working to raise money for a stadium renovation project.
