Rhodes teacher takes home top honors
LIMA — Just a few months ago Angela Heaton won Outstanding Full-Time Faculty Member honors at Rhodes State College. She didn't stop there.
The chair of the school's physical therapist assistant program was named the Ohio Two-Year College Teacher of the Year on Friday at the Ohio Association of Two Year Colleges' conference held at Rhodes.
Heaton has been at Rhodes for 18 years, and has consistently earned high marks from her students. She has served on and led a number of committees on campus, including the Shared Governance and Academic Awards Ceremony Committee and the Outcomes and Assessment Committee.
A site visitor and team leader for the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education, Heaton has been recognized for her performance and appointed as a commissioner for the group.
Richard Woodfield, dean of the school's division of Allied Health, said in his nomination letter that Heaton possesses a disciplined approach to both classroom and program management.
“She also provides a warmth and genuine concern for her students and colleagues alike,” he said. “Rhodes State College is fortunate to have this academic leader in the service of our internal and external communities.”
