Lima resident’s garage featured in magazine
LIMA — Carl Bornhorst’s garage was featured in this month’s Ohio Magazine (www.ohiomagazine.com). The garage was the last project of a three-decade-long renovation to his three-story home on West Market Street.
Bornhorst wanted his garage to be a room for his car, a 1973 MG Midget. The interior shows recycled items from the 1920s, which were narrow enough to leave room for one or two cars. He chose a small leather settee with an end table on which a working built-in Philco radio sits. A long narrow sofa table holds a variety of books. The coat rack in the corner holds Bornhorst’s collection of caps. He hired a concrete refinisher to transform the cement garage floor into a wood plank look, and he had it top-coated with a shiny finish.

The final score was based upon the accuracy of the construction estimate and the professionalism of the presentation.
