Students from all nine Putnam County High Schools competed last Thursday during the Putnam County Scholastic League Tournament.

This year’s big winners were the team from Kalida that won the Scholastic Tournament and also the league tournament.

Teams from each school began competing in the league in January at the county schools. The questions for the league and tournament competition are ordered in September by the Putnam County Educational Service Center that always serves as a co-host for the scholastic league.

Readers who state the questions are given the questions a week ahead to review the information. Readers are chosen from a pool of past advisors in the schools.

Kalida was this year’s co-host for the scholastic bowl. The co-host often brings junior high scholastic team members to assist with setting up tables, serving the meal, running scores to the leaders and doing other necessary errands.

The Scholastic Bowl Tournament runner-up winner was Ottawa-Glandorf.

Ottoville was the runner-up in the tournament competition.

Helping to organize this year’s event was Kathy Hartman, gifted education coordinator, and Deb Schroeder.
