The Blanchard River Watershed Partnership (BRWP) has announced the winners of the Rain Barrel Decorating Contest. Eight schools entered 16 Rain Barrels. The schools included Arlington, Bluffton, Columbus Grove, Leipsic, Pandora Gilboa, Riverdale, St. Wendelin, and Van Buren High Schools. The decorated Rain Barrels were displayed at the Findlay Village Mall from April 24 through May 4.
Riverdale High School was the big winner taking First Place and winning the “People’s Choice Award.” Finishing a close second was Columbus Grove High School. Third place went to Van Buren High School while fourth place went to Pandora Gilboa. The fifth place barrel was decorated by Arlington High School.
Several businesses and agencies sponsored a school’s Rain Barrel. These sponsor included: Blanchard Valley Farmers Coop, DeHaven Home and Garden Center, Hempy Water, Powell Nursery & Landscape Design, Pro Tec Coating Co., Putnam SWCD, Christie Ranzau of Rooney & Ranzau, Ltd., and Ted’s Market in Pandora. The BRWP represents the six counties of the Blanchard River Watershed is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving water quality through developing citizen involvement and watershed action plans. While not related to the NW Ohio Flood Mitigation Partnership, BRWP works in cooperation with the communities and local agencies on water resource and environmental issues.
